Gary Cahill Ruled Out of Euro 2012

Liverpool defender Martin Kelly has been called up to join Roy Hodgson's England squad, as Gary Cahill suffers a double fracture of the jaw.

The Chelsea defender suffered the injury in England's 1-0 win over Belgium at Wembley yesterday evening, in a collision with goalkeeper Joe Hart.

Cahill collided with Hart just 17 minutes into the match after a push from winger Dries Mertens, and England manager Roy Hodgson spoke of his anger at the challenge after the game. Dries Mertens push on Cahill looked to me as though he initially intended to hurt the defender to damage England's chances at the Euros. We always seem to be the hated ones, or is it just me who thinks that.

Kelly the replacement for Cahill who had been hoping to cap off a strong season with his first appearance at a senior international tournament.

When i first heard the news that Kelly was going to be called up instead of Micah Richards who it think is still one of England's best defenders, had me raising my eyebrows as into why he wasn't picked. But unbeknownst to some Richards actually refused a place on the stand-by list after Hodgson snubbed him from the main squad, and now costing him a place in the Euros.

England could also be without John Terry as he suffered from a hamstring tweak in the Belgium game. Scans have been done and he will be reassessed on Tuesday.
